L&T wins ₹15,000 crore+ ADNOC Offshore order for Middle East project
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Larsen & Toubro (L&T) on Tuesday, 4 August disclosed that its offshore energy arm, L&T Energy Hydrocarbon Offshore (LTEH Offshore), has secured an 'ultramega' contract valued at over ₹15,000 crore from ADNOC Offshore for a large-scale project in the Middle East. The award, disclosed through an exchange filing, ranks among the largest single offshore contracts in L&T's recent history.
Project Scope and Execution Structure
The contract will be executed through a consortium, with LTEH Offshore as the lead partner responsible for a substantial portion of the work. The scope covers engineering, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning (EPCIC) of offshore facilities, along with the upgrade of existing infrastructure.
A significant share of the fabrication work will be carried out at L&T's own fabrication yards, which the company describes as state-of-the-art. L&T's integrated EPCIC capabilities position it to handle the full project lifecycle in-house — a key differentiator in complex offshore developments.
What L&T's Leadership Said
S N Subrahmanyan, Chairman & Managing Director of Larsen & Toubro Limited, said: 'This prestigious award from ADNOC reflects the trust our clients place in L&T's engineering excellence, project execution capabilities and unwavering commitment to delivering complex energy infrastructure projects safely and on schedule.'
He added: 'As a long-standing partner in the region, we remain committed to supporting the UAE's energy ambitions through innovative, sustainable and world-class offshore solutions.'
L&T's Offshore Track Record
Over the past four decades, L&T's hydrocarbon offshore business has delivered a wide range of projects — spanning fixed platforms, subsea pipelines and structures, brownfield upgrades, and decommissioning assignments across shallow-water and deep-water environments. The company operates a dedicated fleet of marine vessels to support field execution.
Notably, this 'ultramega' win follows L&T's announcement in July that its minerals and metals division had secured multiple domestic contracts — with a combined value in the 'mega' category of ₹10,000 crore to ₹15,000 crore — underscoring a sustained order-book momentum across its engineering verticals.
Broader Significance
The ADNOC contract reinforces India's growing role in delivering offshore energy infrastructure for Gulf hydrocarbon producers at a time when Abu Dhabi is aggressively expanding its upstream capacity. For L&T, the win strengthens its Middle East revenue pipeline and validates its strategy of positioning fabrication yards as a competitive advantage against regional and international rivals.
With global energy majors continuing to invest in offshore capacity, L&T's EPCIC credentials could attract further large-ticket mandates from the region in the near term.
