Maha Kumbh Expected to Generate Over Rs 4 Lakh Crore in Trade, Enhancing India's Economic Landscape

New Delhi, Jan 12 (NationPress) As Maha Kumbh approaches, starting in Prayagraj at the sacred meeting point of the revered Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers from Monday, the most significant religious assembly on our planet is expected to yield more than Rs 4 lakh crore in trade, providing a substantial boost to India's economy.
According to industry projections, Maha Kumbh is likely to enhance both nominal and real GDP by over 1 percent.
The government of Uttar Pradesh anticipates around 40 crore visitors, both from within India and abroad, to participate in the occasion.
Government estimates suggest that Maha Kumbh could generate Rs 2 lakh crore in trade if each of the 40 crore attendees spends an average of Rs 5,000.
Further industry analysis indicates that the average spending per person might escalate to even Rs 10,000 during this grand event, with the total economic impact potentially soaring to Rs 4 lakh crore.
Meanwhile, companies from both India and overseas are competing for space to present their offerings during the 45-day event.
From fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) to the pharmaceutical sector, from mobility services to digital payment platforms, organizations have loosened their marketing budgets, planning to invest over Rs 3,000 crore on branding and marketing during Maha Kumbh, as per industry specialists.
The public sector behemoth Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) has provided around 45,000 tonnes of steel for constructing various infrastructures at the Maha Kumbh Mela 2025.
The steel delivered includes chequered plates, hot strip mill plates, mild steel plates, angles, and joists, according to a statement from the Maharatna company.
In preparation for the largest gathering of Sanatan Dharma followers, Prayagraj has undergone a significant transformation. More than 200 roads have been constructed and enhanced, ensuring smooth connectivity for the millions of devotees expected to attend this grand spiritual event. The roads have been beautified with over 3 lakh plants and 1 lakh horticultural saplings, improving their aesthetic appeal.
