The minister highlighted that this marks the largest-ever commitment towards engineering roles in the state, providing a substantial uplift to Tamil Nadu's electronics and advanced manufacturing landscape.
“This is the largest ever commitment for engineering jobs in Tamil Nadu! Foxconn pledges Rs 15,000 crore and 14,000 high-value jobs! Engineers, get ready!” Rajaa declared in a post on the social media platform X.
According to Rajaa, Foxconn aims to introduce its next phase of value-added manufacturing, research and development integration, and AI-enhanced advanced technology operations in Tamil Nadu.
He noted that Robert Wu, Foxconn's representative in India, recently met with Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin to reaffirm the company's confidence in the region through these significant investment initiatives.
“This is yet another significant boost for Tamil Nadu's electronics and advanced manufacturing sector, as @CMOTamilNadu Thiru. @MKStalin avargal met with Foxconn’s India Representative Robert Wu to emphasize their strong trust in Tamil Nadu with substantial investment commitments,” Rajaa added in his post.
To facilitate these developments, Tamil Nadu’s investment promotion agency, Guidance, is set to establish the first-ever Foxconn Desk in India.
The minister stated that this desk will ensure seamless facilitation of projects and mission-mode execution, which he referred to as a step towards what he termed as “Dravidian Model 2.0.”
This announcement follows Robert Wu's meeting with Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in Bengaluru last Sunday, where they discussed ways to enhance Foxconn’s presence in Karnataka and explore new avenues in manufacturing and technology collaboration.
Foxconn presently has operations in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Telangana, and these new plans indicate a significant expansion of its presence in India.
