New Delhi, July 11 (NationPress) Mercedes-Benz India revealed on Friday that it has achieved a remarkable kickoff to the financial year 2025-26 by selling 4,238 units during the April-June 2025 timeframe (Q1) -- representing a 10 percent increase compared to the same quarter last year.
This impressive growth was fueled by strong demand for both its mainstream and high-end luxury models, alongside a significant surge in sales of battery electric vehicles (BEVs).
The luxury segment, which features models such as the S-Class, Mercedes-Maybach, EQS range, and AMG performance vehicles, experienced a 20 percent growth in Q1.
Particularly notable was the demand for the EQS Maybach Night Series, G 580 with EQ technology, and the AMG G 63, as highlighted by the luxury automaker.
Additionally, Mercedes-Benz's BEV lineup saw remarkable growth, soaring by 157 percent in Q1, now accounting for 8 percent of the total sales.
The EQS 450 SUV and G 580 with EQ Technology were pivotal in this achievement, with some models already sold out and waiting periods extending up to six months.
The company's 'core' lineup, which includes the C-Class, E-Class Long Wheelbase, GLC, and GLE SUVs, accounted for 60 percent of total sales.
The E-Class LWB remains the top-selling luxury vehicle in India, particularly post the introduction of the E450 performance variant.
Nonetheless, the 'entry luxury' segment experienced a slight dip, attributed to intensified competition at lower price levels.
However, Mercedes-Benz maintains that its entry-level models provide excellent value with rich features and luxurious appeal.
In alignment with its focus on high-end offerings, Mercedes-Benz also introduced the new GLS AMG Line SUV in India.
With a price tag of Rs 1.4 crore for the GLS 450 AMG Line and Rs 1.43 crore for the GLS 450d AMG Line, this SUV presents a sportier and more dynamic variant of one of the brand's most popular luxury SUVs.
With over 16,000 GLS units already on Indian roads, the new AMG Line version aims to strengthen its foothold in the segment.
Santosh Iyer, Managing Director and CEO of Mercedes-Benz India, expressed that the robust Q1 performance reflects increasing consumer interest in luxury vehicles featuring personalization and advanced technology.
He noted that the company's emphasis on high-end products and BEVs has effectively influenced customer preferences.
