New Delhi, Oct 6 (NationPress) Mercedes-Benz India, a division of the renowned German car manufacturer, announced a record-breaking sales figure for September, showcasing an impressive 36 percent surge year-on-year. This remarkable achievement can be attributed to strong customer engagement following the GST 2.0 reforms and an upswing in festive season purchases, leading to over 2,500 vehicles sold within just nine days.
The automaker also celebrated its best quarterly performance, with second-quarter sales hitting 5,119 units and total sales from April to September reaching 9,357 units, representing a year-over-year growth of about 4 percent.
Notably, the Long Wheelbase E-Class sedan and SUVs, including the GLC, GLE, GLS, and G63 AMG, set new records for monthly sales.
“Our September sales reached an all-time high, driven by an enthusiastic customer response to the GST 2.0 reforms, which coincided with a build-up of demand. The allure of our refreshed product lineup and innovative financial solutions has led to a significant uptick in demand for Mercedes-Benz vehicles,” stated Santosh Iyer, Managing Director & CEO of Mercedes-Benz India.
“The recent GST rate reductions have positively impacted consumer sentiment, especially given the rising car prices influenced by macroeconomic factors like adverse currency fluctuations and increasing operational expenses,” he added.
This quarter, the luxury segment, which includes the GLS, S-Class, Mercedes-Maybach, and AMG G63, accounted for 25 percent of sales, marking a 12 percent increase from last year.
Furthermore, the market share of Battery-Electric Vehicles (BEVs) rose, comprising around 8 percent of total sales. The BEV segment experienced a 10 percent growth, with the EQS SUV achieving its highest sales figure to date, according to the release.
The Long Wheelbase E-Class is touted as the top-selling luxury car in India, boasting a 47 percent year-on-year growth for the luxury sedan in the Q2 FY 25-26 period, as claimed by the company. The 'Made in India' SUV lineup includes the GLA, GLC, GLE, and GLS luxury SUVs.
