During the inauguration of the two-day ‘National Startup Festival’ in Jammu, the minister highlighted the significance of innovation, entrepreneurship, and early industry connections in securing the success of startups.
Dr. Singh pointed out the vast potential of agriculture-based startups in the region, particularly the ‘Purple Revolution’, which has helped more than 3,000 youth in Jammu and Kashmir to achieve better earnings through the lavender startup initiative.
He urged young individuals to identify their strengths and pursue entrepreneurial opportunities, rather than fixating on government employment.
The minister further noted that Jammu and Kashmir's agri-startup ecosystem is flourishing, with lavender farming in Bhaderwah, Doda district, placing the region on the global startup map.
He called for greater involvement of urban areas in agri-startups, with an emphasis on expanding lavender farming and other high-value agricultural initiatives.

The minister pointed out that startups are not only contributing to economic advancement but also generating rewarding employment opportunities, especially for women and Self-Help Groups (SHGs).
Dr. Singh also acknowledged the swift growth of India’s space economy, crediting its success to collaboration between public and private sectors.
He celebrated the achievements of women-led teams in significant space missions, including Chandrayaan-2 and Aditya L1.
