Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate Bharat Innovates 2026 in France, as 120 Indian startups and innovators expressed strong enthusiasm on Saturday, 13 June over the global platform spotlighting India's deep-tech, clean energy, and healthcare innovation ecosystem. The event runs alongside Modi's participation in the G7 Summit at Evian and the VivaTech technology conference in Paris.

The initiative provides a major international stage for Indian innovators to connect directly with global investors, industry leaders, policymakers, and technology partners — a rare convergence of diplomatic and startup diplomacy.

Who Made the Cut

120 startups were shortlisted from nearly 3,000 applicants, underscoring the competitive nature of the selection. Among those selected is Gudlyf Mobility, a clean-energy startup co-founded by Dr Ajeet Babu PK and Dr KC Vora. Dr Babu PK, who hails from Madurai — a Tier-2 city — described the selection as a matter of personal and professional pride.

'Coming from a Tier-2 city like Madurai and being selected for this platform is a matter of pride. We are extremely excited,' he said.

Dr Vora highlighted the company's flagship product: a hydrogen cylinder that is 50 per cent lighter and 50 per cent cheaper than conventional metal cylinders. 'We want to export this cylinder. There is a strong sense of excitement that our product can become globally recognised and exported worldwide,' he said, adding that the team hopes to engage directly with the Prime Minister during the event.

Healthcare and AI on the Global Stage

Prateek Golecha, Chief Growth Officer of Tricog Health, said the platform offers unmatched global visibility for Indian-built technology. 'Our product and algorithm are built in India and are now being showcased on a global stage. We are hopeful of entering multiple international markets,' he said.

Tricog Health's AI-driven diagnostics are designed to improve access to affordable healthcare, particularly in emerging markets where delayed testing worsens outcomes in conditions such as heart disease.

Carbon Capture Innovation from India

Prof. Arnab Dutta of UrjanovaC brought attention to a breakthrough in carbon capture technology. 'We discovered a way to capture and convert carbon dioxide using water,' he said, noting that the process draws inspiration from natural biological and geological mechanisms. The innovation represents India's push into climate-tech solutions with global scalability.

Scale and Significance of Bharat Innovates 2026

Bharat Innovates 2026 is a three-day national initiative featuring participation from more than 15 premier institutions alongside the 120 selected startups. The platform is designed to position India's technology capabilities before an audience of global investors, research organisations, and policymakers at one of Europe's most prominent tech gatherings.

This comes amid India's broader push to position itself as a global innovation hub, with deep-tech and clean energy increasingly central to its foreign economic diplomacy. With Modi personally inaugurating the event, the government is signalling that startup diplomacy is now a pillar of India's international engagement strategy.
