New Delhi, Sep 7 (NationPress) A cutting-edge Chemical Laboratory has been established at the National Test House (NTH) in Ghaziabad, aimed at enhancing the testing capabilities for a variety of essential materials used in daily life and various industries, as announced by the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution on Sunday.
This advanced facility will facilitate the testing of packaged drinking water, natural mineral water, materials used in food packaging, enamelled and insulated wires made of aluminium and copper, coal, petroleum coke, bitumen, enamel paints, anti-skid products, as well as filtration media including sand and gravel, along with white and coloured chalk.
The Chemical Laboratory is also set to play a pivotal role in ensuring the safety and quality of construction materials, including cement, water, metals, alloys, paper, plastics, organic products, and fertilizers.
Accredited by the National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) under ISO/IEC 17025:2017, this lab has received endorsements from the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), and the Fertilizer (Control) Order, 1985.
The inauguration of the laboratory is scheduled for September 10, and will be led by Union Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution and New & Renewable Energy, Pralhad Joshi.
The facility boasts cutting-edge instruments like the Atomic Absorption Spectrometer (AAS), Inductively Coupled Plasma – Atomic Emission Spectroscopy (ICP-AES), Optical Emission Spectrometer (OES), Gas Chromatography – Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS), High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), and Ion Chromatograph.
These technologies will facilitate precise testing across various sectors, from construction to consumer products.
In addition to testing, the laboratory will engage in training, research, and collaboration with universities, engineering colleges, and industries, thus bolstering the scientific and industrial ecosystem.
Looking forward, the lab aims to broaden its services to include testing for fortified food items such as wheat flour, refined flour, nuts, edible oils, and salt enriched with vitamins A and D.
The laboratory also plans to incorporate testing for spices and micronutrient analysis in food products, thereby enhancing its role in public health, food safety, and quality standards.
Since its establishment in 1977, the NTH Ghaziabad has been a reputable institution for testing and calibration services in engineering.
With this innovative chemical laboratory, it seeks to further its mission in ensuring quality, safety, and compliance for both industries and consumers.
