Mumbai, Nov 10 (NationPress) The National Securities Depository Limited (NSDL) has unveiled an enhanced version of its Foreign Portfolio Investor (FPI) Portal and introduced the new Foreign Venture Capital Investor (FVCI) Portal. This newly redesigned platform merges FPI and FVCI registration and operations into a single interface, eliminating the need for multiple logins and manual processes.
It serves as a consolidated digital platform aimed at simplifying, accelerating, and improving the registration and compliance journey for international investors in India’s securities markets.
“The launch of the upgraded FPI and FVCI portals is a significant milestone. This is not merely an enhancement; it demonstrates NSDL's robust dedication to providing participants with top-tier digital infrastructure,” stated Vijay Chandok, MD and CEO of NSDL.
The unified platform presents various benefits such as simplified registration processes (with guided workflows, validations, and tooltips), traceability (through application tracking and audit trails that guarantee full transparency), and a single interface for FPI and FVCI registrations which minimizes duplication and expedites onboarding. Additionally, it automates PAN requests and features a technology-driven design.
Dr Ruchi Chojer, Executive Director at SEBI, remarked that “this new platform exemplifies SEBI’s vision for a seamless, investor-centric Indian market — a system that is efficient, transparent, and globally competitive.”
As noted by Sameer Patil, Chief Business Officer at NSDL, genuine advancement lies in simplification.
“This platform embodies that principle — making it quicker, simpler, and more transparent for global investors to access Indian markets,” he added.
Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPIs) are international entities registered with SEBI that invest in Indian equities, bonds, and mutual funds, contributing to capital formation and market liquidity. Foreign Venture Capital Investors (FVCIs) are overseas entities that invest in venture capital funds or unlisted Indian startups, thus fostering innovation and entrepreneurship.
Founded in 1996, NSDL is recognized as one of the largest depositories worldwide, managing a significant portion of securities in dematerialized form within India.
