New Delhi, Jan 25 (NationPress) The PM Surya Ghar-Muft Bijli Yojana seeks to empower individuals by transforming them into energy producers and allowing them to generate additional income through the sale of electricity to discoms, stated Union Minister of New and Renewable Energy, Pralhad Joshi, on Saturday.
The minister addressed 750 special invitees from the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, who were present to witness the Republic Day Parade in New Delhi.
“Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, ordinary citizens are now central to India's renewable energy revolution. Their efforts and achievements demonstrate what we can achieve collectively as a nation,” remarked Joshi.
“The recipients of PM Surya Ghar and PM Kusum are the true representatives of India’s renewable energy movement,” he added, praising them for spearheading the nation’s renewable energy efforts.
During the event, beneficiaries of PM Surya Ghar and PM Kusum from various regions shared their experiences, expressing gratitude for the timely subsidies they received, the user-friendly registration process on the PM Surya Ghar portal devoid of human intervention, and the significant savings they achieved, including zero electricity bills due to their installations.
“In Dharwad, Karnataka, one beneficiary of PM Surya Ghar achieved zero electricity bills through solar power adoption. Supported by a Rs 78,000 subsidy from the central government, this narrative exemplifies PM Modi’s vision for promoting sustainable and energy-efficient solutions nationwide,” the minister shared.
A beneficiary of PM Kusum, Rakesh Rohi from Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh, informed the minister that he installed solar pumps on his farm, significantly enhancing his yield thanks to the PM KUSUM Scheme.
The special guests of MNRE also toured PM Sangrahalaya earlier. Nidhi Khare, Secretary of MNRE, emphasized that the ministry is always eager to learn from beneficiaries to enhance the implementation of these schemes.
