New Delhi, June 27 (NationPress) The implementation of Quality Control Orders (QCOs) has positively impacted the micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) sector by enhancing product quality and boosting their global competitiveness, stated Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal.
The QCO represents a significant advancement in limiting the importation of inferior products, ensuring consumer safety, and improving the competitiveness of Indian industries.
In a recent post on the X social media platform, Goyal mentioned that he had a stakeholder consultation meeting with members of the MSME sector to talk about the rollout of QCOs.
“I appreciated their input on making the standard-setting process more collaborative, inclusive, and easier to adhere to. MSMEs recognized how the QCOs have been advantageous for their sector by improving product quality and consumer satisfaction,” remarked the Commerce Minister.
In alignment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Zero Defect, Zero Effect’, MSMEs also emphasized the necessity of a ‘quality mindset’ to enhance domestic capabilities and elevate the nation’s global competitiveness, according to the minister.
In accordance with PM Modi's vision to establish a robust quality framework across industries, DPIIT has been diligently notifying QCOs to raise manufacturing standards and strengthen the global standing of ‘Made in India’ products.
These initiatives are supported by the development of testing facilities, product manuals, and the accreditation of testing laboratories. Through such efforts, the government aims to build a world-class, self-reliant manufacturing ecosystem under the vision of 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat'.
QCOs illustrate a strategic effort to elevate product standards in India, allowing Indian manufacturers to flourish in both domestic and international arenas.
Earlier this month, the Quality Council of India (QCI), the national authority for accreditation, unveiled a redesigned portal for the National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL). This initiative aims to simplify the accreditation process and enhance digital accessibility, especially for laboratories and MSMEs.
