New Delhi, Feb 18 (NationPress) The Chief Operating Officer of liquor manufacturer Radico Khaitan, Amar Sinha, has resigned from his position, citing personal reasons. He is set to join Allied Blenders & Distillers as their new Managing Director. Prior to this, Sinha held the roles of Executive Director and CEO at BDA, now known as Allied Blenders & Distillers Ltd.

In his resignation letter, Sinha stated, “I hereby tender my resignation from the position of Chief Operating Officer of Radico Khaitan Limited due to personal reasons. I would like to be relieved from my responsibilities by 31 March 2026.” He joined Radico Khaitan in March 2017 as COO.

Sinha expressed his gratitude, saying, “It has been a privilege to serve in this capacity and contribute to the Company's growth journey.” He thanked the Board and his colleagues for their support and trust during his tenure.

In a separate incident last May, Radico Khaitan withdrew its newly launched whisky brand ‘Trikal’ after facing backlash regarding its name and imagery, which many believed offended religious sentiments. The company publicly acknowledged the feedback from Indian citizens and decided to discontinue the brand following an internal review.

The company explained, “‘Trikal’ was never just a name -- it was intended as a tribute to India’s timeless spirit.” The term, derived from Sanskrit, refers to the past, present, and future.

Critics noted that the brand’s teal-coloured bottle label featured a minimalist line drawing that resembled Lord Shiva’s third eye. Radico Khaitan, known for popular products like 8PM, Magic Moments, and Rampur Indian Single Malt, had positioned ‘Trikal’ within its premium brand strategy, with a price range between Rs 3,500 and Rs 4,500.

On a positive note, Radico Khaitan reported a significant increase in its Q3 profit, showcasing a 62 percent rise to Rs 1.55 billion ($16.9 million) for the quarter ending December 31, compared to Rs 954.9 million the previous year. Revenue from operations also increased by 22 percent to Rs 54.24 billion.

Point of View

Amar Sinha's resignation as COO of Radico Khaitan highlights the volatile nature of leadership in the liquor industry. With his move to Allied Blenders & Distillers, it raises questions about the future direction of Radico Khaitan, especially following the brand's recent controversies. The company's responses to public sentiment reflect a growing awareness of corporate responsibility in India.
