Seoul, Feb 12 (NationPress) An electric energy symposium commenced in Seoul on Wednesday, aiming to showcase innovative electric power technologies from both local and international firms, as reported by the industry ministry.

Elecs Korea 2025, organized by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, will continue for three days until Friday at the COEX convention center, according to the ministry, per Yonhap news agency.

Approximately 260 companies from home and abroad are participating in this event to display their advanced heavy electrical equipment, smart grid solutions, power supply technologies, and renewable energy innovations.

This year’s conference will also highlight the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) within electric power technologies to enhance their efficiency.

“Our annual export target is set at a record high of US$16.2 billion for this year, aiming to support the booming heavy electrical equipment sector driven by the rise in AI data centers and initiatives for carbon neutrality to lead South Korea's exports,” stated Industry Minister Ahn Duk-geun in his opening remarks.

Last year, the nation’s exports of heavy electrical equipment reached a historic peak of $15.6 billion.

Ahn emphasized the government's commitment to foster the electric power industry through investments in research and development projects and tax incentives.

In addition, South Korea is planning to export its comprehensive power grid packages that include power plants and energy storage solutions, as indicated by the industry ministry, in response to the increasing global demand for electricity driven by the advancement of innovative technologies like artificial intelligence (AI).

The K-Grid power grid packages comprise a variety of electricity-related products, including cables, transformers, circuit breakers, and energy storage systems.

The ministry stated that this initiative aims to penetrate the American market, where there is a growing demand for advanced power grids and electricity stemming from the rapidly evolving AI and data center sectors.
