New Delhi, May 1 (NationPress) The sales of SUVs have surged in the Indian automotive market during April, with manufacturers like Mahindra & Mahindra, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, and Kia Motors showcasing impressive double-digit growth for the month.
Mahindra & Mahindra achieved sales of 52,330 SUVs in the domestic market last month, showcasing a remarkable growth of 28 percent compared to the same month last year, thanks to popular models such as the Scorpio, Thar, and XUV. Including exports, the company’s total sales in this segment reached 54,860 units, reflecting an overall growth rate of 19 percent.
According to Veejay Nakra, President of the Automotive Division, these figures demonstrate the strength of the company’s portfolio and offerings. He stated, "We began the fiscal year on a robust note, building on the momentum from the previous year."
Kia India reported an 18.3 percent increase in sales for April 2025, with 23,623 units sold domestically, up from 19,968 units in April 2024.
The company’s compact SUV, Sonet, remained its best-selling model with 8,068 units sold in April, followed by the mid-size SUV Seltos at 6,135 units. The Carens MPV maintained strong demand with 5,259 units sold, while the recently launched Syros contributed 4,000 units. The premium Carnival Limousine accounted for 161 units of the monthly total.
Hardeep Singh Brar, Senior Vice President and Head of Sales and Marketing at Kia India, credited the growth to the ongoing success of the Sonet and the favorable market response to the new Syros, highlighting the increasing customer trust in the brand's excellence.
Toyota Kirloskar Motor announced a 33 percent year-on-year sales increase, totaling 27,324 units in April, driven by its strong lineup of SUVs and multi-utility vehicles.
