New Delhi, May 15 (NationPress) The Indian telecom industry is witnessing a steady rise in workforce demand, with the intention to hire freshers reaching 45 percent in the first half of 2025, as revealed in a report released on Thursday.
The study, conducted by TeamLease EdTech for the period of HY1 2025 (January-June), indicates that telecom remains a major driver of employment as the sector swiftly evolves towards 5G networks, cloud-native architectures, and improved cyber resilience.
Although there was a slight drop from the 48 percent freshers hiring intent noted in the previous half-year (July-December 2024), the growth trend is still strong, fueled by the rising need for specialized positions such as radiofrequency (RF) engineers, network security analysts, and field technical engineers.
Major cities including Delhi, Ahmedabad, Coimbatore, Bangalore, Mumbai, Nagpur, Hyderabad, Kolkata, and Indore are experiencing a surge in demand for these skill sets.
Fresh graduates can discover a variety of opportunities within the sector, especially with domain-specific abilities in network security, cloud computing, and DevOps.
Key technological tools such as project management software and task-tracking platforms are also deemed essential by employers to optimize complex network deployment and operations.
“While the sector is on the rise, employers are not merely hiring to expand their workforce. They aim to future-proof their networks with specialized talent. This is where freshers with relevant certifications in RF, cybersecurity, and cloud technologies excel,” stated Shantanu Rooj, Founder and CEO of TeamLease Edtech.
“We are also observing a convergence of telecom roles with IT and data functions, leading to the emergence of hybrid job profiles that were non-existent a few years back. This serves as a cue for academic institutions to adjust their curriculum and for job seekers to enhance their skills promptly,” Rooj added.
