Mumbai, May 3 (NationPress) ‘WAVES Bazaar’, the premier global market initiative of the ‘WAVES 2025’ Summit, has successfully secured over Rs 250 crore in agreements while establishing significant international partnerships, as reported by the government.
The event achieved confirmed transactions totaling Rs 250 crore across various sectors such as film, music, animation, radio, and VFX within just a day and a half. This amount is projected to exceed Rs 400 crore.
‘WAVES Bazaar’ has positioned itself as a vital driver for global collaboration in the media and entertainment sector.
The initiative aims to connect creators with investors, buyers, and collaborators internationally, potentially transforming India into a key hub for content commerce, stated Sanjay Jaju, Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
In its first edition, WAVES Bazaar attracted prominent industry players from over 22 countries, including South Korea, Japan, the US, Germany, Russia, Netherlands, and New Zealand.
Participation included 95 global buyers and 224 sellers. Notable buyers featured Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Meta, Disney Star, Zee Entertainment, Banijay Asia, Warner Bros. Discovery, Sony LIV, YRF, Dharma, Jio Studios, Rotterdam Film Festival, and Rushlake Media.
Around 115 filmmakers showcased completed works to international buyers, with 15 standout projects being selected as ‘Top Selects’ from the viewing room and presented live.
These filmmakers were honored by renowned casting director Mukesh Chhabra, alongside actor Tiger Shroff, who supported one of the highlighted titles.
From 104 project submissions, 16 curated projects were chosen for live pitching, providing early-stage creators a platform to engage directly with industry stakeholders during the two-day ‘WAVES Bazaar’, the government informed.
‘WAVES Bazaar’ also introduced India’s first dedicated B2B buyer-seller meetings in partnership with FICCI (Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry), facilitating targeted deal-making and fostering creative business growth, as noted by the ministry.
