New Delhi, March 6 (NationPress) The surge of women entering the workforce from Tier-II and Tier-III cities in India has resulted in a remarkable 34% increase in their median salaries over the last three years, according to a recent report released on Thursday.

As per the findings from the job and professional networking platform Apna.co, the population of women seeking employment from smaller urban areas has quadrupled between 2021 and 2024.

The volume of job applications originating from these regions has also seen a threefold increase, amounting to 12.8 million in 2024. This transformation underscores a significant shift in employment trends beyond the primary metropolitan hubs.

Several elements have propelled this upward trajectory, including an uptick in job openings, improved digital access, and evolving recruitment strategies from employers.

These advancements have inspired many women from non-metropolitan regions to pursue diverse career avenues and engage actively in the workforce.

Fields such as sales, business development, administrative positions, and customer support have emerged as the top sectors for women in these smaller cities, comprising 55% of total job applications.

Moreover, numerous women are gravitating towards careers in marketing, banking, retail, human resources, hospitality, teaching, and healthcare.

A growing number of women are also venturing into non-traditional roles, with approximately 600,000 applications in field sales, 250,000 in delivery and logistics, and 150,000 in security services by 2024.
