Mumbai, Oct 29 (NationPress) The family of the renowned cartoonist, the late R.K. Laxman, has chosen to honor his legacy by establishing the inaugural R.K. Laxman Award for Excellence.
To commemorate this occasion, a live music concert featuring the musical genius A. R. Rahman is set for November 23, celebrating the remarkable contributions of R.K. Laxman. This event will take place at the MCA Cricket Stadium in Pune, starting at 5 PM.
Usha Lakshman, the daughter-in-law of the late cartoonist, shared with IANS, "The R.K. Laxman family has arranged for an A. R. Rahman live concert on Sunday, November 23, 2025, at the MCA Cricket Stadium."
She further added, "The concert will kick off at 5 PM, and during this remarkable evening, we will honor R.K. Laxman by launching the first-ever R.K. Laxman Award for Excellence."
The initial honoree of this prestigious award will be none other than Aamir Khan, known as Bollywood's Mr. Perfectionist.
"The recipient of this award will be Aamir Khan, marking a significant tribute from our family to Laxman," she concluded.
R.K. Laxman, a distinguished Indian cartoonist and illustrator, is celebrated for his character, 'The Common Man', and his daily cartoon strip, 'You Said It'.
He is also remembered for his illustrations in the television adaptation of 'Malgudi Days', a story written by his elder brother, RK Narayan, and directed by Shankar Nag.
R.K. Laxman passed away in Pune's Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital in 2015 at the age of 93.
Throughout his illustrious career, he received the Padma Bhushan in 1973 from the Government of India and the Padma Vibhushan in 2005.
