Mumbai, July 25 (NationPress) Actor Abhishek Banerjee has officially commenced filming for his Tamil debut film in Chennai.
A source revealed: “Chennai and Kalpakkam hold a significant place in Abhishek’s childhood memories. The local cuisine, the sea breeze, and the monsoon rains — it all feels so familiar to him.”
Although born in Kharagpur, Abhishek was raised in the coastal town of Kalpakkam, just an hour away from Chennai, where he absorbed the rich culture and food of Tamil Nadu during his formative years.
The insider added: “Returning to this place for a shoot feels like a homecoming for the Stolen actor. While project details remain confidential, filming in this fresh setting has been a unique and meaningful experience for him and his team.”
In related news, the actor recently completed the Bhopal shooting schedule for his upcoming film Baaghi Bechare, directed by Sumit Purohit. He described the experience as an “incredible journey.”
Reflecting on the process, Abhishek stated: "Shooting for Baaghi Bechare in Bhopal was an incredible journey. Director Sumit Purohit has done a fantastic job, and the shooting schedule went exceptionally well.”
The film also features Pratik Gandhi and Faisal Malik, and is written and directed by Purohit, who previously worked on 1992 – The Harshad Mehta Story. In addition to Abhishek, the cast includes Pratik Gandhi and Panchayat's Faisal Khan. The project is being produced by the creators of Mirzapur.
Entitled ‘Baaghi Bechare’, this film is a satire. According to Variety, Faisal Malik, known for his role in Panchayat, describes the project as a part of “this transformative phase of Indian cinema.”
Looking ahead, 2025 promises to be an exciting year for Abhishek, who was recently featured in Stolen and Rana Naidu Season 2.
On the acting front, Abhishek was last seen in the film “Stree 2: Sarkate Ka Aatank”, directed by Amar Kaushik. This film is the fourth installment in the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe and serves as a sequel to the original Stree, which debuted in 2018.
