What Role Does Actor Dinesh Play as Sadaiyan in Athiyan Athirai's 'Thandakaaranyam'?

Chennai, Sep 2 (NationPress) The creators of director Athiyan Athirai's highly anticipated film 'Thandakaaranyam', starring actors Dinesh and Kalaiyarasan in prominent roles, revealed the character name of actor Dinesh on Tuesday.

The director shared a clip of actor Dinesh discussing the film on his timeline.

Dinesh expressed, "This is a film I am looking forward to. It is set to release after my successful project, Lubber Pandhu. This marks the second film for director Athiyan Athirai, whose first project was the critically acclaimed Irandam Ulaga Porin Kadaisi Gundu. While he is known for being a serious filmmaker, he has crafted a story that promises to perform well commercially. When I first encountered the script, I found it quite challenging. I was curious how he could present this commercially, but he developed a beautifully evolved story set in a forest."

The recently released teaser indicates that the narrative is conveyed from a female perspective. A young woman residing in a tribal village bordering a forest shares her story, stating, "Each time a girl is born in this forest, a root vegetable is also born. My grandmother, Richiamma, often said the man who finds that root vegetable for you is your destined partner." She elaborates, "The forest is more than just trees and plants; it embodies our love. One day, my man took me under this tree and went in search of the root for me, but he has not returned yet."

The visuals suggest that the woman’s narrative serves as a metaphor for a deeper tale of oppression within forest lands. It becomes clear that Kalaiyarasan portrays a member of the uniformed services, while Dinesh embodies a tribal leader.

Produced by director Pa Ranjith's Neelam Productions in collaboration with Learn and Teach Productions, the film also features actors Rithyvika, Vinsu Sam, Muthukumar, Aruldass, and Saranya Ravichandran in significant roles.

Notably, the film has received clearance from the Censor Board with a U/A certificate and is set to premiere on September 19.

Actor Shabeer Kallarakkal, recognized for his portrayal as 'Dancing Rose' in the sports drama Sarpetta Parambarai, will also play a key role alongside comedian Bala Saravanan.

On the technical side, the film features music by Justin Prabhakaran, cinematography by Pratheep Kaliraja, editing by Selva, and art direction by Tha Ramalingam.

Sources close to the production team reveal that filming took place entirely in forests and mountain villages, including several sequences shot in hilly areas.

As anticipated, the film has generated significant interest, especially following the success of director Athiyan Athirai's previous work, 'Irandam Ulaga Porin Kadaisi Gundu', which received both critical and commercial acclaim.

This film beautifully illustrated the exploitation faced by the working class in the informal sector while also addressing caste issues and the topic of honor killings. Interestingly, Attakathi Dinesh was the lead in that film as well.
