Aditya Dhar Denounces AI-Generated Misinformation Linked to 'Dhurandhar'
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Mumbai, March 26 (NationPress) Filmmaker Aditya Dhar has vehemently criticized the spread of AI-generated and altered images associated with his recent film ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’, labeling them as “false, misleading, and malicious.”
Dhar took to his Aditya Dhar Films Instagram account on Thursday morning to express his gratitude for the film's positive reception and to highlight that certain individuals are misusing officially released promotional content via artificial intelligence to disseminate misinformation.
“I am profoundly thankful and humbled by the immense love that Dhurandhar: The Revenge has garnered from audiences nationwide and internationally,” Dhar stated.
“Yet, I have noticed that certain individuals are circulating tampered visuals by altering officially released promotional content through artificial intelligence to forge false and misleading narratives.”
The director clarified that a viral image depicting Ranveer Singh’s character, Hamza/Jaskirat, smoking while adorned with a turban is entirely fabricated and not part of the film or any official content.
“One such manipulated image inaccurately shows the character Hamza/Jaskirat smoking while wearing a turban. This is utterly untrue and does not feature in the film or any official material we have released.”
He described this as a deliberate act of misrepresentation.
“It is an intentional act of misrepresentation meant to incite and create mischief.”
Dhar further emphasized his profound respect for the Sikh community, asserting that every depiction in the film has been approached with “utmost sensitivity, dignity, and responsibility.”
He remarked that any attempts to imply otherwise through altered content are “malicious and dishonest.”
“Let me state this clearly: I hold the highest regard for the Sikh community, and every portrayal in the film has been treated with utmost sensitivity, dignity, and responsibility. Any assertion to the contrary through doctored content is malicious and dishonest.”
“I encourage audiences to rely solely on official content and view the film as it was intended, rather than succumbing to AI-generated misinformation being circulated with ulterior motives.”
He also cautioned that such actions will be addressed firmly.
“Such acts will be dealt with strictly.”
Dhurandhar: The Revenge was recently released and follows an undercover Indian intelligence agent who infiltrates Karachi's criminal organizations and Pakistani politics while avenging the 26/11 attacks and tackling larger threats. The film's narrative draws loosely from real geopolitical events and conflicts in South Asia, including Operation Lyari, the 2014 Indian general elections, the 2016 Indian banknote demonetization, and other significant occurrences.
