Mumbai, June 17 (NationPress) Actor Aditya Roy Kapur has expressed that he possesses a strong tendency to be self-critical, often feeling unsatisfied with his performances. With time, he has developed the ability to trust the director's vision and reduce his tendency to overthink.

When asked about his self-assessment of his performance and whether his approach is more self-critical or intuitive, Aditya shared with IANS: “Absolutely, I am always hyper self-critical. I'm never content, always believing I could have delivered more. Earlier in my career, I'd go home and ponder over my performance for hours. However, with experience, I've learned to let go.”

The actor acknowledges that this feeling of self-criticism is something he will always experience, so he understands the importance of not dwelling on it.

“It’s done, the day is over, and you’ve given your best. That mindset is essential—constantly ruminating on those thoughts leads nowhere. Yet, I remain very critical in that regard. I only check the monitor if it’s necessary for a particular shot,” he added.

Aditya describes himself as self-critical.

“Indeed, I am always self-critical. I believe it’s crucial. Gradually, I’m learning to appreciate myself occasionally and trust the director's judgment when they are genuinely pleased. It’s important to set boundaries and stop doubting beyond a certain point. If the director is really satisfied... that's where trust comes into play,” he noted.

He emphasized the significance of the trust developed between an actor and a director.

“Ideally, you’ve spent ample time together before filming—discussing various topics, or even indirectly addressing issues—so you both understand the same objectives. That alignment is vital. If you and the director envision two distinct films, it won’t work. Being on the same page is essential. Yes, that’s critical.”
