Ahan Shetty's 'Sanki' begins shoot in Bhopal on October 30
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Actor Ahan Shetty is set to kick off his next project, the action drama 'Sanki', with filming scheduled to commence in Bhopal on 30 October 2026. The film follows Ahan's recent appearance in Border 2 and marks his return to the big screen in a full-fledged lead role.
What the Film Promises
Directed by Tinu Suresh Desai — known for helming Rustom and Mission Raniganj — 'Sanki' is written by Gyanendra Vasudev and Rajat Aroraa, with debut directors Adnan A. Shaikh and Yasir Jah also attached to the project. The film is described as a blend of romance, intense emotions, and high-octane action sequences. The makers have kept the storyline under wraps, with further details expected to be unveiled in the coming months.
Pooja Hegde stars alongside Ahan in the film, which is backed by We The People, Roaring River Productions, and Pals & Peers Entertainment. 'Sanki' is slated for a theatrical release in the first half of 2027. Director Desai and his crew have already arrived in Bhopal to complete pre-shoot preparations.
The Title Dispute — and How It Was Resolved
The film's title reportedly carries a backstory of its own. According to reports, Sanki was originally registered by producer Sajid Nadiadwala for a separate project — one that was also reportedly associated with Ahan Shetty at one point. When Ahan sought to use the title for this new venture, he reportedly chose to approach Nadiadwala directly, bypassing intermediaries, in a gesture that underscored his personal rapport with the producer.
The matter was reportedly settled amicably and without prolonged negotiations. Nadiadwala is said to have willingly parted with the title as a goodwill gesture, reflecting the cordial ties between his camp and the Shetty family.
Ahan Shetty: Carrying a Legacy
Ahan made his Bollywood debut with Tadap before recently appearing alongside Sunny Deol in Border 2 — a film that carries particular emotional weight given that his father, veteran actor Suniel Shetty, featured in the original Border.
Speaking about the experience, Ahan said: 'That last scene that was there, unfortunately, we weren't able to shoot that together. But yeah, if I think about him being a part of Border and then me being a part of Border 2, I knew there were always going to be comparisons.'
He added: 'And then I also had that very special scene that I had to do that he had done in the first film. That made me very, very nervous. I'm not going to lie. I knew those comparisons were going to come. I knew that pressure was going to be there.'
What to Watch
With the shoot now officially beginning in Bhopal, the coming months are expected to bring casting updates, location announcements, and possibly a first-look reveal. A release in the first half of 2027 puts 'Sanki' in a competitive window for big-screen Bollywood releases.
