Actress Akshita Mudgal, who plays Radhika in the Zee TV drama 'Lakshmi Niwas', has spoken candidly about the emotional toll of shooting one of the show's most intense story arcs — a phase that left her physically and mentally drained by the end of each filming day.

What Radhika's Story Demanded

Recent episodes have placed Radhika at the centre of a deeply turbulent chapter: her marriage is called into question, her parents are subjected to social ridicule, and she is forced to confront circumstances she never anticipated. 'Radhika has always been someone who can endure anything herself, but the moment her parents are hurt or questioned because of her, that's when it really breaks her,' Mudgal said. 'She never did wrong to anyone, so to see her constantly facing taunts and blame was emotionally exhausting.'

Mudgal described the demands of staying in character for extended shifts as one of the hardest professional challenges she has faced so far. Radhika is written as a strong, principled woman — but the storyline deliberately strips away her certainty, forcing her into a spiral of self-doubt.

'As an actor, staying in that emotional space for 12–13 hours every day was difficult,' she said. 'There were days when I would go home with swollen eyes because once you start living a character's pain for so long, it stays with you even after pack-up.'

Notably, this kind of emotional bleed — where an actor carries a character's grief beyond the set — is a recognised phenomenon in long-format Indian television, where daily shooting schedules leave little room for psychological recovery between episodes.

'Somewhere, I also feel Radhika's journey is a reminder that no matter how unfair life gets, you have to find the strength to stand up again,' she added. 'I hope girls who relate to her story find encouragement and hope through her journey.'
