Mumbai, Oct 22 (NationPress) Actor-singer Ammy Virk, whose most recent film is “Godday Godday Chaa 2,” fondly reminisced about a touching incident with Bollywood icon Ranveer Singh during the moment his 2018 movie “Harjeeta” received a National Award. He expressed that he “didn’t grasp its significance” until he “lived through it.”

“Numerous filmmakers aspire to win a National Award, but it becomes even more special when we actually achieve it, as it’s a monumental honor,” Ammy shared with IANS when queried about any pressure regarding his latest film, noting that both “Godday Godday Chaa” and his earlier collaboration with director Vijay Kumar Arora had received this prestigious accolade.

Ammy recounted that while he was filming for Kabir Khan’s ‘83’ in London, he and Ranveer found themselves in the center of the action, while others applauded in the background for their friend Adinath Kothare, whose Marathi film ‘Paani’ also won a National Award.

“At the time of Harjeeta's victory, I was engaged in 83 in London. Several people were clapping for our friend Adinath, who had won a National Award for Paani. Meanwhile, Ranveer and I were at the center of the ground, while others celebrated from the sidelines,”

he explained. “I turned to Ranveer and asked what was happening, and he informed me, ‘Adi has won a National Award.’ I inquired, ‘Is it very significant?’ He replied, ‘Of course, it’s a huge deal. You weren’t aware?’ I then revealed, ‘We have also won it. Our film secured two awards—one for Harjeeta and another for our child artist.’ He was taken aback and responded, ‘Seriously?’ I confirmed, ‘Yes.’

“Harjeeta” tells the inspiring story of Harjeet Singh, a field hockey player from a humble background who captained the Indian team at the Junior World Cup. The film received two National Film Awards for Best Punjabi Film and Best Child Actor.

Ammy shared how Ranveer grasped his hand and informed director Kabir Khan of his win, encouraging everyone to applaud.

“He took my hand and told Kabir sir that I had also won and suggested everyone should clap for me too. They were surprised, stating they were unaware of my achievement, to which I replied that I didn’t realize it was such a big deal,”

he added.

“That day, I understood the true importance of winning a National Award among 1.4 billion people; being recognized as one of the few from a particular region is incredibly prestigious.”

“It’s a remarkable accomplishment because with other awards, you may get nominated but not win. This is what truly matters,”

Ammy concluded.

Regarding “Godday Godday Chaa 2,” the film narrates the tale of a vibrant Punjabi village where women take the reins of traditional wedding rituals, igniting a humorous battle of wits as both parties strive to outsmart one another with clever and elaborate strategies. The film also features Gurpreet Bhangu and Gitaj Bindrakhia.
