Mumbai, March 13 (NationPress) Producer Anand Pandit has expressed his insights on the fascinating transformation of biopics and the essential components that enable them to connect with contemporary viewers.

He remarked, “Nearly 30 years later, India experienced another pivotal moment in biopics with ‘Gandhi’ (1982), a collaborative effort between India and the United Kingdom. Directed by Richard Attenborough, the film garnered eight Academy Awards, solidifying its status as one of the most legendary historical films ever created. In 1999, Jabbar Patel directed ‘Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar’, which stood out for its unwavering storytelling, cinematic depth, and carefully chosen locations, seamlessly aligning with the narrative's needs. Similarly, in 2004, renowned director Shyam Benegal produced ‘Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose: The Forgotten Hero’, capturing the scale and intensity that such historical subjects demand.”

“Over time, I’ve noticed that biopics and films based on real-life events consistently achieve box office success. This is largely due to the audience's profound emotional connection with true stories and historical events. I refer to it as the ‘shock-and-awe’ factor of biopics. Viewers are eager to see the dramatic twists and turns of another person's life unfold on the big screen,” added Pandit, who recently produced “Swatantrya Veer Savarkar.”

He also emphasized that the journeys of influential figures are often marked by both significant accomplishments and considerable challenges. However, according to the producer, merely recounting historical events is insufficient to captivate today’s film enthusiasts.

“The lives of those who have shaped history are typically filled with extraordinary highs and lows. Yet, simply narrating events won’t engage the modern audience. The presentation must be captivating, technically advanced, and rich in entertainment value. If the story is told compellingly without sacrificing technical excellence, it is bound to succeed at the box office,” the producer explained.

He also cited the blockbuster “Chhaava” as a prime example of how biopics can flourish when crafted with the appropriate cinematic allure.

Anand Pandit has produced films such as “Total Dhamaal,” “Missing,” “Sarkar 3,” “Great Grand Masti,” “Thank God,” “The Big Bull,” and “Chehre.”
