Mumbai, Sep 23 (NationPress) As the film “Tanvi The Great” returns to the big screen, renowned actor Anupam Kher expresses his strong conviction in the significance of second chances in both life and cinema.
Anupam shared a video on Instagram where he discusses the theme of second chances.
“Namaste friends, I want to tell you that I truly believe in the concept of second chances. Sometimes, these second opportunities in life can surpass the initial ones. Many are unaware that I received a second chance before embarking on my cinematic journey,” he recounted.
Reflecting on his experiences, Anupam, who has appeared in over 500 films, reminisced about being replaced in Mahesh Bhatt’s Saaransh just 10 days before filming, with Sanjeev Kumar stepping into his role.
“I was part of Saaransh, but I was let go 10 days prior to shooting, and Sanjeev Kumar sir was brought on board. I confronted Mr. Bhatt and expressed my frustrations, pleading, ‘You’re creating a film centered on truth. I’ve rehearsed for six months. How can you dismiss me now?’ I fought hard and shed tears,” Anupam shared.
He emphasized the importance of second chances.
“Today, I celebrate 40 years in cinema, with nearly 500–550 films to my credit. The release of Tanvi The Great again signifies this belief in second chances. Initially, the film was overlooked by many; some were unaware of its release,” he noted.
“Those who did watch it appreciated it immensely. It received remarkable reviews and praise. We had its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival, followed by screenings in New York, and it was shown to notable figures including the President and Army Chief,” he explained.
Anupam mentioned that in his extensive career, he has received limited accolades as an actor, director, and entertainer.
“In this film, we introduced a talented newcomer, Shubhangi Dutt. Her performance deserves endless praise. As an acting teacher and director, I can confidently say it’s one of the finest in recent years,” he added.
“This film celebrates the bond between an Army officer's legacy and his family—highlighting a mother’s determination to empower her autistic daughter. It embodies themes of goodness and brotherhood,” he described.
The actor-director lauded the film's remarkable score by M.M. Keeravani.
“Esteemed actors such as Jackie Shroff, Arvind Swamy, Boman Irani, Pallavi Joshi, and E. N. Glenn were part of this project. This film truly deserves another opportunity. On the 26th, we are re-releasing it in 17 cities. I urge you to experience it. I assure you will enjoy it. Let’s ensure this second chance is a success,” he encouraged.
Anupam captioned the post: “TANVI THE GREAT IS BACK IN THEATRES. Second chances matter… because they allow us to experience Courage, Hope, and Inspiration. Don’t miss the return of #TanviTheGreat - on 26th September in select theatres!”
The cast includes Jackie Shroff, Arvind Swami, Boman Irani, Pallavi Joshi, Karan Tacker, Nasser, alongside Anupam Kher and Iain Glen.
