Mumbai, Sep 23 (NationPress) Actress Indira Krishnan, known for her role in the upcoming drama Ganga Mai Ki Betiyan, has shared her thoughts on her return to the channel after an extended hiatus, emphasizing her selective approach to role choices.
The show, featuring Shubhangi Latkar as Ganga Mai, narrates the inspiring tale of a single mother who raises her three daughters with resilience, grace, and empathy. The cast also includes Sheizaan Khan, Srishti Jain, Amandeep Sidhu, and Vaishnavi Prajapati.
Indira remarked, “Zee TV has always been close to my heart. My journey began with ‘Manzilein Apni Apni’ and continued with ‘Afsar Bitiya.’ Coming back after such a long time feels like returning home.”
“Over the years, I’ve been very particular about the roles I choose because I believe that every character should resonate with the audience,” she stated.
In her new role, Indira portrays Duragawati, Siddhant’s mother, a commanding woman who navigates the male-dominated world of money lending, earning both respect and fear in her community.
Known for her unwavering sense of justice, she stands firm against wrongdoing, even at the expense of her children’s happiness. She is astute, perceptive, and decisive, showcasing strength and justice outwardly, while deeply committed to her family.
Indira shared, “What captivated me about Duragawati in Ganga Mai Ki Betiyan is her strength, depth, and complexity. She is authoritative, fearless, and principled in a male-centric society.”
“Conversely, she is a nurturing figure who carries her family's responsibilities with affection. Portraying such a complex character is a thrilling challenge for any actor, and I cannot wait for audiences to experience her journey,” Indira added.
The series Ganga Mai Ki Betiyan premiered on September 22 on Zee TV.
