Mumbai, Feb 28 (NationPress) Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap has shared his insights regarding the hurdles he encountered while embodying the role of a fearless cop in his forthcoming film "Dacoit - Ek Prem Katha."

The director and actor revealed that assuming such a dynamic and intense character compelled him to venture into new acting realms. Discussing his involvement in the film, Anurag stated, “Portraying a police officer who is an Ayyappa devotee is both enjoyable and demanding. The dilemmas of duty versus dharma, along with executing his responsibilities infused with a dry sense of humor, is remarkable. I’m genuinely excited about portraying this character in two languages, filming in Hindi and Telugu. Achieving the same emotional impact in both languages is the challenging aspect, which I am thoroughly relishing.”

“Dacoit,” a pan-India action drama, features Adivi Sesh and Mrunal Thakur in leading roles. In this action-packed narrative, Kashyap plays a courageous inspector who is a devoted Ayyappa worshipper and has zero tolerance for corruption.

The plot of “Dacoit” follows the journey of an angry convict hell-bent on avenging his ex-girlfriend, who deceived him. As he devises a dangerous scheme to ensnare her, the storyline transforms into a gripping tale of love, betrayal, and revenge.

Making his directorial debut, Shaneil Deo helms the project, which is produced by Supriya Yarlagadda, co-produced by Suniel Narang, and presented by Annapurna Studios.

The film is being filmed concurrently in Hindi and Telugu, with a storyline and screenplay collaboratively developed by Adivi Sesh and Shaneil Deo. Filming is currently underway in Hyderabad, with an extensive shooting schedule planned in Maharashtra.

Anurag Kashyap is also preparing to present the Hindi adaptation of the Malayalam thriller “Footage,” featuring Manju Warrier. Regarding this project, he remarked, “I watched the Malayalam version of ‘Footage,’ and it resonated with me. It’s invigorating to witness young filmmakers from the Malayalam cinema breaking free from genre restrictions, styles, or techniques to discover innovative storytelling methods.”
