Anushka Sharma Celebrates the Legacy of Ravichandran Ashwin

Mumbai, Dec 19 (NationPress) Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma, who has been on a break from her acting career due to her duties as a mother, has expressed her admiration for cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin after he declared his retirement from international cricket.
The actress shared a video from the BCCI on her Instagram Stories, captioning it with, “A lasting legacy”.
Throughout his career, Ravichandran Ashwin was a significant asset to the Indian cricket team and is hailed as one of the finest spinners in cricket history. He played a pivotal role in the 2011 ODI World Cup victory and the 2013 Champions Trophy, where he bowled the decisive final over in the championship match.
Ashwin also made valuable contributions with the bat, providing solid support in the lower order.
Recently, Ashwin participated in the second pink ball test of the ongoing BGT series. He was absent from the third test, during which India faced difficulties in their first innings. However, the team managed to draw the match post a rain break. On the same day he announced his retirement from international cricket, Ashwin returned to India.
This announcement contradicted captain Rohit Sharma's statement, which indicated that the legendary spinner would leave the team a day after his retirement announcement.
Over his illustrious career, Ashwin has taken over 700 wickets in international cricket, with more than 500 wickets in Test matches, placing him among the top ten wicket-takers in Test history. He has amassed over 4000 runs in international cricket, featuring 6 centuries and 14 half-centuries in Test matches.
Ashwin’s legacy stands alongside that of India’s legendary spinner Anil Kumble. With Ashwin's exit, Ravindra Jadeja emerges as a reliable player in the spin department. The upcoming two matches will be crucial for India’s prospects in qualifying for the WTC.
