Anushka Sharma Advocates for Book Highlighting Pivotal Judgments on Women in India's Military

Mumbai, Jan 2 (NationPress) Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma, who is presently on a break from her acting career, has expressed her endorsement for the book ‘In Her Defence: Ten Landmark Judgments on Women in the Armed Forces’, written by Navdeep Singh and Shivani Dasmahapatra.

On Thursday, the actress utilized the Stories feature on her Instagram and re-shared a post from the book's publishers. She added on the image, “In Her Defence, a tribute to the resilience of women in the Armed Forces. Hats off to @navdeepsinghindia & @lenswandererart for this remarkable work.”

Previously, Anushka praised cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin after he declared his retirement from international cricket. The actress posted on her Instagram Stories, sharing a video from BCCI, stating, “A lasting legacy.”

Ravichandran Ashwin was a significant contributor to the Indian cricket team during his playing days, regarded as one of the finest spinners ever. He played a crucial role in the 2011 ODI World Cup championship team and was also part of the victorious squad in the 2013 Champions Trophy, where he bowled the final over that secured India's victory.

Additionally, Ashwin made valuable contributions to the Indian batting lineup from the lower order.

At present, the actress is in Sydney alongside her husband, India’s cricketing icon Virat Kohli, as the Indian cricket team prepares to face the dominant Australian cricket team, which has historically challenged India throughout the ongoing series.

The Indian team triumphed in the initial match of the Border–Gavaskar Trophy under the captaincy of Jasprit Bumrah. However, they struggled to maintain momentum in subsequent matches after captaincy transitioned to Rohit Sharma. Sharma, who led India to a World Cup victory in June 2024 following the T20 World Cup win, has faced difficulties during the current test series, with the batting order showing vulnerability under pressure from the Australians.

With the final test approaching, India must win to level the series and keep their hopes alive for the upcoming edition of the World Test Championship (WTC).

For India to qualify for the WTC, Australia needs to lose to Sri Lanka in their imminent test series, even after leveling the ongoing test series.
