Currently portraying Rajeshree in the series Prathaon Ki Odhe Chunri: Beendani, she remarked: “Having witnessed television transform over the years, I take pride in being part of this journey. Shows that convey meaningful and positive messages resonate well with audiences.”
Apra, who embarked on her television career at 15 as an anchor for a children's show called Santakukdi on Mumbai Doordarshan, noted that television has dramatically changed since its earlier days.
“However, it is certainly not disappearing. The reach of television is extensive, and its audience remains substantial and influential. This is why TV continues to be one of the most potent mediums for instigating change and disseminating the right messages,” she added.
Discussing the global influence of Indian television, Apra, who has appeared in nearly 40 daily shows including iconic series like Alpviram, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Saat Phere, and Jamai Raja, stated: “I travel globally for my drama shows and have observed how closely Indians abroad engage with television.
“Many might not watch films regularly, but their bond with television is profound. This highlights the importance of portraying contemporary realities rather than outdated perceptions,” she emphasized.
Apra further explained: “In my current series, Prathaon Ki Odhe Chunri: Beendani, my character initially believes that girls do not require education. However, the lead actors and the narrative aim to convey a powerful message about the necessity of educating girls.”
“Even today, numerous regions do not encourage girls to pursue education, making it crucial for us to communicate this message effectively.”
The show Prathaon Ki Odhe Chunri: Beendani narrates the tale of Ghevar, a spirited village girl from Rajasthan, whose life transforms when fate introduces a newborn into her family, intertwining two distinct worlds. As love, sacrifice, and hidden truths emerge, Ghevar’s adventure evolves into one of bravery and resolve to safeguard what she values most.
