Chennai, Dec 17 (NationPress) According to industry insiders, approximately 95 percent of the filming for the third chapter of director Ajay Gnanamuthu's acclaimed horror series ‘Demonte Colony’ is now complete.
A trusted source associated with the film's production confirmed to IANS that the bulk of the shooting has wrapped up, with only minor patchwork left to be done.
The same source indicated that the movie has turned out exceptionally well and is expected to be released in April of the coming year. Nonetheless, no official announcement has been made yet.
For those unfamiliar, the 'Demonte Colony' series, starring Arulnithi in the lead role, has garnered a significant fanbase, who are eagerly anticipating this third installment. It's worth noting that the previous film in the franchise, which was a massive success, featured both Arulnithi and Priya Bhavani Shankar in leading roles.
Director Ajay Gnanamuthu initiated pre-production for the third installment in April of this year, even sharing a photo of his team working in Sliema, Malta, with the caption, “Demonte Colony 3 work in progress.”
The significance of the 'Demonte Colony' series lies in its namesake, a real location in Chennai known for its haunted reputation.
Launched in 2015, the franchise set new standards in the horror genre within Tamil cinema. The first installment was an immediate hit, and eight years later, the second part also achieved blockbuster status.
The second film included notable actors such as Arun Pandian, Muthu Kumar, Meenakshi Govindarajan, and Archana Ravichandran, alongside the leads.
Cinematographer Harish Kannan handled the visuals for the second part, with music composed by Sam C S, art direction by Ravi Pandi, and editing by D Kumaresh.
The film was initially produced by Vijaya Subramaniyan under White Nights Entertainment, alongside RC Rajkumar of Gnanamuthu Pattarai.
However, Cyber Forensics expert Bobby Balachandran acquired all rights to the film prior to its completion, thus becoming the producer.
The second installment, released last year, enjoyed an impressive 85-day run in theaters, much to the satisfaction of its creators. The conclusion of the second part confirmed the production of a third installment.
The upcoming film is set to release next year, once again featuring Arulnithi and Priya Bhavani Shankar in principal roles.
