Ayushmann Khurrana receives Bishnoi gang threat, crores demanded in audio clip
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Bollywood actor Ayushmann Khurrana has reportedly received a threatening audio message in which the sender claims to be a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang and demands an unspecified amount running into crores of rupees, sources said on 4 November 2026. The development follows a series of similar threats targeting prominent Hindi film industry figures in recent months.
What the Threat Contains
According to sources, the audio clip sent to Ayushmann Khurrana includes a claim of affiliation with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, along with a demand for crores of rupees. Police confirmed they are currently matching the voice in the audio against recordings of known accused already in their records. The cyber cell is also reportedly tracing the phone number and location from which the message originated.
Pattern of Bollywood Threats
This is not an isolated incident. Actor Tusshar Kapoor recently received a similar threatening audio message in which the sender, identifying himself as Harry Boxxer — reportedly a member of the Bishnoi gang — demanded ₹5 crore from the actor. However, preliminary investigation suggests that audio may be fake, and police are working to identify whether these messages are originating from the actual gang or from individuals using its name to instil fear.
In February, Boxxer reportedly issued comparable threats to actor Ranveer Singh and filmmaker Rohit Shetty. According to reports, Boxxer was subsequently detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers in California.
Tiger Shroff Attack and the Bishnoi Connection
The threats come in the wake of a firing incident involving actor Tiger Shroff on 18 October this year. A representative of the Lawrence Bishnoi group, identified as Anil Pandit, claimed responsibility for that attack via a social media post, stating the group would 'not spare anyone working in close proximity with Salman Khan.'
Pandit also released an audio clip in which a voice, referring to Salman Khan, reportedly said: 'Listen to me carefully Salman Khan. If you don't apologize to my elder brother, Lawrence Bishnoi, or to the Bishnoi community, then we won't even leave a dog in your house. We will destroy your entire family. Keep this in mind. Don't think that you are in security and nothing will happen to you.'
Police Response and Investigation
Law enforcement agencies, including the cyber cell, are actively investigating the origin of these audio messages. Authorities are cross-referencing voice samples, tracing communication trails, and assessing the authenticity of each claim. The broader investigation aims to determine whether these threats emanate from the Bishnoi gang itself or from opportunistic individuals exploiting the gang's notoriety to extort money from high-profile targets. As the investigation unfolds, the frequency of such threats is likely to shape how Mumbai Police recalibrate security protocols for Bollywood celebrities.
