Los Angeles, Feb 15 (NationPress) The legal conflict between actor-director Justin Baldoni and actress Blake Lively is escalating as the trial date approaches. In a recent turn of events, Justin has urged a judge to block Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds from accessing extensive records of his phone and text messages, which he claims could disclose sensitive information such as location data and browsing history.
In correspondence with the court, Baldoni’s attorney Mitchell Schuster contended that Lively’s subpoenas are “excessively broad,” as reported by Variety.
He remarked, “It is difficult to emphasize just how invasive and unorthodox these subpoenas are. This is a civil matter, not a criminal investigation, and (Lively and Reynolds) are not the FBI.”
According to Variety, Blake Lively’s legal team submitted subpoenas to AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile earlier this week.
They are pursuing additional evidence to support their assertion that Baldoni, who directed and starred alongside her in ‘It Ends With Us’, conducted an illegal smear campaign against her as retaliation for her complaint of sexual harassment.
In reaction to Baldoni’s objections, a spokesperson for Lively stated, “If they have so many receipts, why are they so hesitant to provide them?”
Both Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively are engaged in mutual lawsuits in federal court in New York, involving not only Reynolds but also several publicists and communication strategists, as well as the New York Times.
Justin claims that the actress has tarnished his reputation with demonstrably false accusations. Additionally, Blake Lively’s lawyers have issued subpoenas to Jed Wallace, a crisis consultant from Texas, along with internet service providers Cloudflare and AOL. In a statement released on Wednesday, her legal team expressed their intention to uncover the “complete network of individuals” involved in efforts to damage her reputation.
In response, Justin’s team accused Lively’s side of conducting a “massive fishing expedition.” The subpoenas directed at phone companies include demands for records related to Justin Baldoni, producer Jamey Heath, billionaire co-founder of Wayfarer Studios Steve Sarowitz, and publicists Melissa Nathan and Jennifer Abel, all of whom are defendants in Blake Lively’s lawsuit.
