Mumbai, Aug 15 (NationPress) Actress Bhumi Pednekar expressed how her parents placed India at the forefront of their lives, instilling in her a profound love for the nation.
Bhumi shared an emotional video of her mother on Instagram, where she spoke passionately about her devotion to the country.
“I love my country. I would go to any lengths for it. During my time, they did not accept girls into the army—only the medical corps. I stood my ground because I was a paratrooper and had participated in two Republic Day parades. Many don't even get one opportunity,” recounted Bhumi’s mother.
She continued, “I accomplished it twice. I even challenged the DG. General Bakshi was present.
I confronted him. I asked, why aren’t we allowed to join the army? What’s the point of our training? We are trained rigorously and excellently. As a paratrooper, the training is incredibly demanding.
The camps for Republic Day are also very tough. I questioned, what’s the use of all this? A handful of people are not inducting us. Yet, I am thrilled for the younger generation.
They are being inducted.”
Bhumi’s mother emphasized that girls now play a vital role in our armed forces.
“And, in fact, our forces across all branches. I am incredibly proud of them. The progress of these girls is remarkable. I feel an immense sense of pride. What they have laid down is bearing fruit now.”
In her caption, Bhumi remarked that she wears her nationality as a badge of honour.
“I randomly filmed my mom during our drive to the factory, and her words resonated deeply with me,” Bhumi shared.
She continued, “Growing up, I absorbed my parents’ stories from a time when opportunities were scarce, yet their dreams for our country never wavered. For them, India always took precedence. I have inherited this love for India from them, and I wear my nationality as a badge of honour.
“Indeed, there is much work ahead. However, each generation has contributed, and it is our turn. As we move forward, let us continue to build on our achievements, growing stronger daily in our values, rules, compassion, community, and unity. Happy Independence Day.”
