Prime Video's upcoming period drama The Revolutionaries is set to bring four largely forgotten heroes of India's independence movement to a global audience, premiering on 11 September across India and more than 240 countries and territories. Helmed by director Nikkhil Advani and produced by Emmay Entertainment, the series is adapted from historian Sanjeev Sanyal's eponymous book on India's pre-independence armed resistance.

The Cast and Characters

Bhuvan Bam plays revolutionary Rash Behari Bose, while Rohit Saraf portrays Sachindra Nath Sanyal. Pratibha Ranta takes on the role of Pratibha Lahiri, and Gurfateh Pirzada steps into the shoes of Bagha Jatin. Supporting roles are played by Jason Shah, Paoli Dam, and Tota Roy Chowdhury in pivotal parts. Character promos for all four leads were unveiled on social media on Tuesday, offering audiences their first look at the series' key figures.

What the Series Is About

Set against the backdrop of India's freedom movement, The Revolutionaries follows four young rebels who mobilised a nationwide armed resistance against the British Empire. The narrative, according to the makers, is built around rebellion, sacrifice, friendship, and the pursuit of freedom — told through a character-driven action drama format rather than a conventional historical retelling.

Director Nikkhil Advani said, 'What excited me most about The Revolutionaries was the opportunity to shine a light on the lesser-known heroes of pre-independence India. While inspired by real events and the extraordinary stories of courage documented in Sanjeev Sanyal's eponymous book, we have approached the series as a character-driven action drama that explores rebellion, sacrifice, friendship, and freedom through an emotional and cinematic lens.'

Sanjeev Sanyal's book sheds light on so many such remarkable characters and events, and we are proud to have adapted some of those stories for this series.'

Producers Madhu Bhojwani and Monisha Advani described the project as 'more than a series,' calling it 'a labor of love from the moment we first encountered these extraordinary stories.'

The Revolutionaries will stream exclusively on Prime Video from 11 September. The series will be available primarily in Hindi, with dubbed versions in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Bengali, alongside English and several international language subtitles — positioning it for both domestic and diaspora audiences worldwide.

With its wide multilingual release and global distribution across 240-plus countries, the series marks one of the more ambitious Indian period productions to land on a major streaming platform this year.
