Los Angeles, June 24 (NationPress) Hollywood icon Brad Pitt faced a challenging phase in his career until David Fincher breathed new life into his passion for acting with the film ‘Se7en’.
In a recent episode of Dax Shepard’s “Armchair Expert” podcast, Pitt revealed that the summer of 1994 marked “the most unhealthy time” in his life, following a series of disappointing blockbuster projects, according to variety.com.
The actor admitted he required a break from the Hollywood scene.
“I would wake up, smoke a bong, and drink four Coca-Colas on ice, with no food,” Pitt recounted.
“That summer, I followed the O.J. trial and pondered, ‘What’s next for me?’”
The turning point arrived when his manager presented him with the script for ‘Se7en’.
While the script didn’t initially grab his attention, it captivated him after he read it completely and met with Fincher.
“My dear friend and manager, who is like a sister to me now, Cynthia, sent me the script,” Pitt reminisced.
“She said, ‘You need to read this.’ After the first seven pages, I called her, saying, ‘Are you serious? The clichéd old cop wants to retire, and a young cop is looking at his high school football trophies?’ She urged me to finish it. Then I met with Fincher, who discussed films in a way I had never encountered before. That conversation reignited my passion. Discovering that script reinvigorated my aspirations.”
Released in 1995, ‘Se7en’ follows two detectives on the trail of a serial killer who uses the seven deadly sins as motives for his crimes. The film also features Morgan Freeman, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Kevin Spacey.
