Los Angeles, Oct 25 (NationPress) Iconic singer-songwriter Celine Dion has identified her 15-year-old sons as her most significant support system since her diagnosis of Stiff Person Syndrome.

Recent reports from ‘Mirror.co.uk’ indicate that panic buttons have been installed in their residence for safety.

Twin boys Eddy and Nelson have stood by their mother since her diagnosis in 2022, which came six years after the passing of their father, Rene Angelil, due to throat cancer. Their unwavering support has been crucial as Celine's symptoms have progressively worsened.

According to ‘Mirror.co.uk’, Stiff Person Syndrome is a rare autoimmune neurological condition characterized by muscle stiffness, rigidity, and painful spasms. The exact cause remains elusive, but studies suggest an autoimmune response whereby the body mistakenly attacks nerve cells responsible for muscle control.

Celine shared her thoughts with ‘People’ magazine regarding the installation of panic buttons in her home for emergencies. She noted, "We have panic buttons in the house, and they know how to put me on my side. The idea of telling them and showing them was not to frighten them; it is to inform them, 'I'm your mom, and it’s my responsibility. You're old enough to understand that I might need your help.'"

She elaborated that her sons check on her nightly to ensure her symptoms haven’t worsened. Celine has worked closely with her children to help them comprehend the changes in her body during a "crisis" episode, a time when she becomes extremely stiff and strained. Additionally, it has been clarified that Celine was never scheduled to "attend, perform, or present" at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest, according to a representative for the singer.

The 57-year-old Canadian, who triumphed at Eurovision for Switzerland in 1988 with Ne Partez Pas Sans Moi, was rumored to be performing at this year’s event.
