Mumbai, Jan 29 (NationPress) Actor Chunky Panday, who is featured in the recently launched show ‘Griha Laxmi’, revealed that the film ‘Aankhen’, where he starred alongside Govinda, was initially intended to feature Salman Khan and Aamir Khan.

The actor discussed with IANS the original casting of the film and how its fate is intertwined with the iconic ‘Andaz Apna Apna’, starring Salman and Aamir.

Chunky shared with IANS, “Pahlaj Nilani initially planned a film with Salman Khan and Aamir Khan. However, he didn’t get that opportunity, and by that time, Raj Santoshi had launched ‘Andaz Apna Apna’ with both stars. Therefore, Pahlaj decided, ‘I couldn’t create a film with them, but I’ll craft something similar in my own style with my actors’. This led to the creation of ‘Aankhen’ featuring me and Govinda.”

He continued, “When he commenced the film, he aimed to produce something larger and better than ‘Andaz Apna Apna’. In fact, we completed ‘Aankhen’ in just six months because we wanted to release it before ‘Andaz Apna Apna’. It was all in the spirit of friendly competition.”

Reflecting on his cherished memories from the film, he remarked, “My most treasured moments would be with Govinda and Kader Khan during the sequences filmed in the house. The dynamic of the two mischievous children and their extravagant father was incredibly entertaining.”

“We shot ‘Bade Kaam Ka Bandar’ at renowned sites such as Juhu Beach and the Gateway of India. Interestingly, the monkey featured was a superstar. His pay exceeded ours, and he had 6-7 bodyguards for protection. He truly was a superstar monkey! I wish I could relive ‘Aankhen’ every year. At the moment, I’m wearing spectacles and can’t even see my own eyes,” he added.
