Chennai, Jan 24 (NationPress) Celebrated music composer D Imman, known for his significant contributions to the South Indian film industry, has decided to register for full body organ donation on his birthday today. In a video shared on his X account, he expressed gratitude for the numerous birthday wishes he has received and mentioned, “For quite some time, I have wanted to achieve various things. This year, I have chosen to enroll myself for full body organ donation.”
Imman revealed that he received his donor card after completing the registration process at the Rajiv Gandhi government hospital in Chennai. He stated, “After my passing, all my organs will be donated to individuals who require them. Through this, I discovered the incredible reality that one can continue to live on even after their time.”
The revered music director hopes that his commitment to organ donation will motivate others to consider registering as well. “I am sharing this video to announce my decision. If my action inspires even a few to follow suit, I will be truly pleased,” he remarked.
Highlighting the urgency of organ donation, Imman noted that medical professionals must harvest organs within one to six hours post-mortem. He emphasized that in sudden death scenarios, family and friends may be grieving and unable to consider organ donation. “Thus, I urge everyone to register for organ donation while they are healthy, as it can significantly benefit many,” he advised, also emphasizing the importance of discussing their choices with family and friends.
Upon inquiring about the availability of such facilities, he learned that the process has been operational since 2008, yet it was only last year that an increased number of people began registering for organ donation. D Imman concluded, “If more individuals permit their organs to be utilized after their passing, it will substantially decrease the waiting period for patients in need of transplants.”
