Mumbai, June 23 (NationPress) Actress Daisy Ridley, who plays the central role in ‘Cleaner’, has shared insights about her character in the film. The actress described her character as “unapologetic”.
This action-thriller, directed by renowned filmmaker Martin Campbell, known for his work on the ‘James Bond’ series, features Ridley portraying Joey Locke, a daring high-rise window cleaner with a sharp edge and a mysterious backstory. When eco-terrorists invade an upscale gala, Joey is thrust into the turmoil, equipped only with her grit, instincts, and a deeply personal motivation to fight back.
Reflecting on the film and her character, Daisy Ridley stated, “I adored the script; I flew through it. Joey is a character that's fun and unapologetic. Yet, she is also complex and flawed. Her love for her brother drives her to make things right, all while trying to save others. The bond between the siblings is deeply moving, intricate, and I was eager to portray that.”
The film also features Clive Owen and Taz Skylar. Discussing her collaboration with director Martin Campbell, Ridley shared, “It was intimidating entering this project, thinking, ‘Wow, I’ve seen all his films and I’m such a fan!’ But I quickly overcame that feeling because he’s incredibly encouraging. There’s plenty of space to experiment and learn from mistakes. His films are often action-packed, yet they contain moments of humor and genuine emotion, which I was thrilled to explore.”
Despite his extensive action directing experience, Martin Campbell admitted, “I have never filmed something at such heights. Capturing the action on the cradle, halfway up the skyscraper, posed a significant challenge. You can’t just film everything at night on the side of the building. The action starts outside as Joey witnesses the chaos inside, leading her to try to intervene and rescue her brother.”
The film is scheduled to debut on Lionsgate Play on June 27.
