Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Los Angeles, February 26 (NationPress) - Dave Grohl, the renowned drummer of Foo Fighters, disclosed that he had “no idea” about his daughter's record contract until she revealed it to him during dinner.
Violet, who began releasing her music in January, later announced her signing with Republic Records/Island EMI. Despite being her father, Dave, 57, clarified that he is not involved in her musical endeavors, according to reports from ‘Female First UK’.
During a recent appearance on The Chris Moyles Show on Radio X, Dave shared, “This is amazing. So Violet, my daughter, she’s 19, soon to be 20. She created this album with a producer named Justin Raisen, all on her own. They went to the studio daily, and she would send me finished songs. However, I had absolutely no involvement in this record whatsoever. I was aware she was trying to sign a record deal, and when she asked, 'Hey, Dad, can I come over for dinner tonight?' I replied, 'Sure! What should I cook?'”
“She came over and announced, 'I signed my record deal today.' I was stunned, saying, 'Oh my God!' I felt completely out of the loop, as the dad wanting to know everything. Yet, she is just embracing her independence,” he added.
According to ‘Female First UK’, Dave takes pride in his daughter, who has provided backing vocals for Foo Fighters and even performed lead vocals on All Apologies during Nirvana's reunion at the Fire Aid benefit concert in Los Angeles in January 2025.
Alongside his daughters Harper, 16, and Ophelia, 11, with his wife, director and actress Jordyn Blum, Dave expressed, “It’s incredible. The record is fantastic. She is exceptionally talented with outstanding musical taste.”
Dave remarked that the album encompasses a broad spectrum of styles, stating, “There are tracks reminiscent of The Sundays or Cocteau Twins, along with some intense, heavy rock. Ethereal elements contribute to its beauty. It’s a remarkable album.”
