Mumbai, March 17 (NationPress) Actress Donal Bisht has candidly discussed her disappointment over missing a significant opportunity to collaborate with renowned director Imtiaz Ali, attributing it to misguided advice from friends during that period.

Donal revealed that she had been shortlisted for a project by the esteemed filmmaker and had progressed to the final stages of discussions with him and his team.

The actress expressed her excitement upon receiving the meeting call, sharing the news with her close circle at the time.

Reflecting on the situation, Donal remarked, “I never declined, but the circumstances turned confusing and uncertain.”

She elaborated that once her acquaintances learned of her selection and upcoming meeting with the director, they offered suggestions on how she should approach the meeting, advising her on what to say and what to avoid.

They insisted this would be in her best interest and that following their advice would ensure she secured the project.

However, due to this unsolicited guidance, she felt hesitant during the meeting, resulting in her coming across as uncertain about various points.

This led to confusion among the team and even prompted Imtiaz Ali to inquire if she was alright and what was causing her hesitation!

Donal later shared that she received follow-up calls from the casting team and industry professionals who expressed concern, asking if she was well or experiencing trauma, and whether someone was leading her astray.

Clarifying her perspective now, the actress stated, “At that time, I struggled to comprehend everything, as I was not fully understanding people back then.”

“Now, I’ve come to realize that some individuals are so negative that they don’t want you to succeed in your career. They linger around, benefiting from you, and undermine you when they’ve used you for their gain.”

Looking back, Donal shared that this experience became a crucial lesson in her life.

She emphasized that navigating the entertainment industry requires trusting one’s own instincts.

She encouraged, “One should be empowered to make their own decisions, both professionally and personally.”

Concluding on a hopeful note, she added, “I believe everything happens for a reason, helping you evolve as a person for a better understanding of this world and the people in it.”
