Chennai, Mar 7 (NationPress) The Kannada actor Duniya Vijay is set to make his Tamil cinema debut in the highly anticipated film 'Mookuthi Amman 2', directed by the renowned Sundar C and featuring Nayanthara in the lead role. Expressing his excitement, he revealed his joy in collaborating with a director who has previously worked with his idol, Rajinikanth, in 'Arunachalam'.
In an exclusive interview with IANS, Duniya Vijay shared, “This is an incredibly emotional moment for me. Sundar C mentioned my name on stage, and I am truly grateful to him, the film's crew, and the wonderful people of Tamil Nadu.”
Taking on the role of the antagonist in this film, Duniya Vijay fondly reminisced about his visit to Chennai 30 years ago, where he hoped to meet Superstar Rajinikanth. “I am a huge fan of Rajinikanth. I traveled here three decades ago to meet him and stayed for 15 days but missed the chance. Eventually, I returned to Karnataka and pursued my acting career. Years later, I had the pleasure of meeting Rajinikanth, who had seen my movies and praised my work,” he recounted, expressing his admiration for both Rajinikanth and Sundar C.
“I truly admire Sundar C as well. I became his fan 26 years ago with 'Arunachalam', starring Superstar Rajinikanth. I am overjoyed to be working under the direction of a filmmaker who has collaborated with Rajinikanth,” he added, his face lighting up with joy.
Duniya Vijay's role as the antagonist is expected to be significant in this pan-Indian film, which is set to have a budget of at least Rs 100 crore.
He mentioned, “I will commence shooting for this film in the middle of this month and will return next month for approximately 40 days of filming.”
This film, anticipated to release simultaneously in five languages, boasts a stellar cast alongside Nayanthara and Duniya Vijay, including actors Urvasi, Regina Cassandra, Yogi Babu, Singam Puli, Gopi Amarnath, Abhinaya, Iniya, Mynaa Nandini, Swaminathan, and Ajay Ghosh. The music is composed by actor and music director Hip Hop Tamizha.
