Choreographer-filmmaker Farah Khan recently paid a visit to Shiv Thakare's residence in Mumbai, where she was welcomed with an authentic Maharashtrian spread lovingly prepared by his grandmother — affectionately called 'Aaji'. Shiv shared a series of photographs and videos from the visit on his social media, showing Farah seated at the family table with a traditional Maharashtrian thali in front of her. The meal featured bhakri-pitla — a rustic flatbread made from jowar or bajra flour paired with a gram flour-based curry — and aamras, the classic sweet mango pulp that is a staple of summer meals across Maharashtra.

Captioning the post, Shiv wrote: 'Tiffin return is mandatory #indianmom . @farahkhankunder Tai' — a playful nod to the beloved Indian custom of mothers insisting on getting their steel containers back.

Farah's Emotional Reaction

Visibly moved while savouring the home-cooked food, Farah said, 'Aaji ke haath ka sabko nahi milta' — meaning, not everyone gets the privilege of eating food prepared by a grandmother's hands. Shiv's Aaji responded by planting an affectionate kiss on Farah's cheeks, in a moment that quickly resonated with fans online.

The warmth did not end there. Shiv's mother was seen carefully packing thecha — a spicy Maharashtrian condiment of raw chillies and garlic — along with homemade laddus for Farah to carry home.

In his trademark humorous style, Shiv teased his mother on camera, asking whether she expected the utensils back from their celebrity guest — a gentle ribbing at the quintessentially Indian habit of tracking every container lent out. Farah laughed and assured the family she would return the steel dabbas, saying she fully understood their sentimental value.
