Mumbai, Dec 31 (NationPress) Actress Gul Panag has openly discussed her experiences with body transformations and the emotional challenges they entail.
In a recent Instagram update, she reminisced about moments spent in front of her closet, donning a dress with apprehension, uncertain if it would fit. She emphasized how weight changes and evolving body shapes have altered her connection with clothing, bringing to light the anxiety that many women endure silently. On Wednesday, Gul shared a collection of her authentic photographs along with a heartfelt message that expressed, “Embracing life is a journey. Many recognize me for my sense of adventure and my passion for it. I often get asked what adventure signifies to me. Over the years, I have come to understand that answer.”
“Adventure is not about being reckless. To me, adventure involves taking calculated risks while considering all possible outcomes. It’s the excitement of the unexpected, even when you’ve planned for various scenarios. It pulls you out of your comfort zone and thrusts you back into a primal world, where anything can happen.”
The former Femina Miss India Universe stated, “This year, I had a revelation regarding adventure. Regardless of how meticulously one plans, things can go off course. I have started accepting that each day brings its own adventure. This mindset has helped me to ease my need for control. You plan to the best of your ability and then let go of the rest, as it’s beyond your control. Just as I approach any other adventure.”
“As pilots, we prepare and file for alternatives. We hope for favorable conditions but brace for the unexpected. I am trying to apply that principle to daily life. Will things unfold as I hope or won’t they? Will my kids cooperate or not? Will my clothes fit today or not? Regarding clothes—that's been quite an adventure. One day, I fit comfortably into my jeans—the very ones I've strived to fit into over the years. Then, literally the next day, I can't zip them up. The scale can fluctuate by up to 5 kgs within 48 hours.”
Gul concluded her post by saying, “Some days, I put on a dress trembling with anxiety—will I manage to zip it up? If I do, I feel on top of the world. But if I can’t, I plummet emotionally. You catch my drift. Now, I've chosen to approach my body and the clothes I wear with the same adventurous spirit. No guaranteed outcomes. Prepared for whatever may come. I keep two types of clothing: comfort-fit or loose-fit (which may become snug on certain days), and regular fitted clothes. Depending on what fits, that’s my choice of attire. This is the new adventure I’m living through (thanks to perimenopause).”
