Mumbai, Sep 28 (NationPress) Actress Gul Panag took to social media on Sunday to provide a touching insight into how she and her husband Rishi are fostering their son Nihal’s appreciation for the rich tapestry of India’s cultures.
Having grown up as Army brats, the couple highlighted the significance of curiosity, openness, and experiential learning. In her recent Instagram update, Gul recounted how their trip to Chennai during Onam transformed into a profound cultural experience, complete with traditional attire, a festive sadya, visits to temples, sari shopping, and enjoying the South Indian board game Pallanguzhi.
The actress shared a collection of photos featuring herself, Rishi, and their son Nihal. In a heartfelt message, she wrote, “Both Rishi and I were raised as Army BRATS — constantly moving, shifting schools and cities every few years. This lifestyle gifted us adaptability, openness, and a profound understanding of India’s cultural richness. As parents, we often ponder: how can we impart even a part of that to Nihal? How can we inspire curiosity and openness beyond the confines of textbooks?”
“One effective approach has been to travel with purpose. Recently, we had a long weekend that coincided with Onam, which is primarily celebrated in Kerala but also enthusiastically in Chennai. The timing was perfect, as Nihal had just learned about it at school. We thought, what better way for him to connect the dots than to experience it firsthand?”
Gul Panag shared that their hotel stay significantly enriched the experience, adding authenticity and depth to their cultural exploration. “They introduced us to Pallanguzhi, a traditional two-player board game from South India. What started as a curious introduction to an unfamiliar game quickly evolved into laughter, competition, and discovery — and has now become a beloved pastime at home.”
On the professional front, Gul Panag was recently seen playing the role of Hathi Ram Chaudhary’s wife in the critically acclaimed series “Paatal Lok.” Directed by Avinash Arun Dhaware and created, written, and executive produced by Sudip Sharma, the show is produced under the banners of Clean Slate Filmz and Eunoia Films.
The series is currently available for streaming on Prime Video.
