Mumbai, Nov 17 (NationPress) As filmmaker Gurinder Chadha prepares for the premiere of her newest film, 'Christmas Karma', on the 12th of December, she reminisced about how her holiday celebrations commence with a beloved family custom.
She disclosed that she still finds herself teary-eyed every Christmas after watching 'It's A Wonderful Life'.
Chadha explained, “For me, Christmas kicks off with my yearly family tradition of taking my children to see It's A Wonderful Life at the Prince Charles Cinema in London. Each year, I find myself in tears at the end, touched by its life-affirming message. This love for classic holiday storytelling inspired Christmas Karma.
“It’s my tribute to Dickens and Capra, with a modern twist,” she added.
'Christmas Karma' delves into the essence of Christmas in our increasingly divided world and illustrates how kindness, empathy, and hope can still unite hearts.
Discussing the film's incorporation of Sikh philosophy, Chadha mentioned, “‘Living is Giving’ is a principle rooted in the teachings of Guru Nanak and Sikhism. Being a Sikh, the fundamental message of ‘Ek On Khar’ (We are all one) deeply resonates with me in the creation of my film.”
For those unfamiliar, 'Christmas Karma' is a festive, fresh, and feel-good musical reinterpretation of Charles Dickens' classic 'A Christmas Carol'.
Kunal Nayyar, known for 'The Big Bang Theory', stars as Mr. Sood, our contemporary Scrooge, who embarks on an extraordinary and magical journey with the three Ghosts of Christmas (portrayed by Eva Longoria, Billy Porter, and Boy George). They aid him in confronting his inner struggles and realizing that kindness encapsulates the true spirit of Christmas.
The film also features Leo Suter, Pixie Lott, Charithra Chandran, Danny Dyer, and Hugh Bonneville in significant roles, among others.
PVRINOX Pictures is set to release 'Christmas Karma' in theaters on December 12, 2025!
