Mumbai, May 6 (NationPress) In the context of the Nishat rape incident in J&K, actress Hina Khan emphasized the importance of understanding the distinction between rape and sexual assault.
Hina expressed on her Instagram stories, "Can someone for God's sake enlighten these individuals on the difference between sexual assault and rape? A rape is a rape. A murder is a murder. A sexual assault may vary in description but is merely a precursor to rape. It implies that the offenders could not execute it rather than did not do it. A rapist shifts the blame onto everything but himself. Don't emulate that criminal behavior. Don't utilize alcohol as a 'free pass' for the criminal. Never justify rape. Never even justify sexual assault. Not in the name of religion, community, geography, or attire. These demons exist everywhere, in every community, every religion... lurking for an opportunity."
Hina further urged everyone to cease blaming alcohol as a factor in these crimes. "Alcohol leads to various outcomes, but it doesn't transform a good man into a rapist! Stop the blame game and the escapism. Good men can manage alcohol just as they handle superior physical strength compared to women; they use it to protect women," the actress stated.
She added, "I am not promoting alcohol consumption... but I disapprove of people outright blaming alcohol solely for this horrific act."
Hina also called for an end to the dilution of language when discussing crimes committed by Kashmiri Muslims. Her message was clear: "It's time we address what has occurred without softening our words simply because it involves a Kashmiri Muslim and blaming alcohol for your so-called agenda..."
For those unaware, a nomadic woman was reportedly raped and murdered in the Nishat area of Srinagar.
